The SLSA is committed to providing an enjoyable playing experience for all participants. Our youth program is geared towards fun, with supervised activities outside of regular training times, like team swims and barbecues. Each year, we participate in an exchange program with St. Pierre and Miquelon where several youth teams from there travel to St. Lawrence where they are billetted at the indoor facility. They then accommodate our teams at their facility in St. Pierre.
Use of the indoor training facility is free for all youth and, in partnership with the Community Youth Network, appropriate activities for all age groups are available year round. A year end party is held to celebrate the summer season, and participation medals are presented to all participants.
Adult players from 18+ meet several times weekly for games/scrimmages, and the focus is on fun and fitness. An open Boxing day indoor soccer tournament(The Gerard Quirke Memorial Tournament) is held every year and a Curling Bonspiel sponsored by the association is held in March every year with teams from around the peninsula. Most soccer players participate and it is the first organized event to regroup players for the upcoming season. The passion for soccer is an integral part of the history of this community and every effort is made to encourage a lifelong appreciation of the game.
