Accessibility & Financial Support

The SLSA adheres strongly to the belief that the game should be accessible to
anyone who wishes to participate, regardless of age, gender, sexual orientation, race ,
nationality, ethnic origin, colour, religion or belief, ability or disability. By engaging all
participants-players, coaches, officials, fans, and volunteers, the SLSA aims to provide
equal opportunity to access and enjoyment of the game, while promoting fair play and
respect.

The SLSA is committed to ensuring that program costs do not prohibit any player
from participating. While the financial obligations of the organization have to be met, every
effort is made to keep registration fees at a minimum. For adult players, the option to assist
with field and facility maintenance, officiating, and with general operations (eg. gate,
canteen) are available in lieu of paying registration fees, where requested, and upon
approval by the executive board.

For youth players, a minimal registration fee structure is in place. Discounts are
given for families with more than one child registered. At the start of each season, an
association -led fundraiser is held (walk-a-thon, chocolate sale, etc.) where players can
participate in lieu of paying registration fees. No child who wishes to play has ever been
denied because of financial reasons. All indoor winter training programs are free for all
participants, as is admission to all senior outdoor games.

For youth players selected to provincial all-star teams, assistance is available to
offset costs of travel and participation.

As well, the SLSA partners with the Jumpstart and Kidsport programs to ensure
accessibility to youth with financial barriers.
