Policies

At the forefront of any activity, whether it be work, recreation or otherwise, is the
expectation that every effort has been made to ensure the physical and mental well-being of
its participants. In order to accomplish this, best practices and principles which support safe
environments and participation must be adhered to.
There are many elements of safety, both on and off the field of play, which must be
addressed in order to deliver the safest possible program. From Codes of Conduct which
outline responsibilities for all involved, to field and equipment safety , to psychological safety
of all stakeholders, a high standard of safety protocols must be in place to address every
aspect of the game.
The SLSA ensures strict adherence to the safety guidelines we have as part of our
program. All volunteers must be properly screened and have completed the Respect in Sport
Training. Policies which protect the physical and mental well-being of participants, including
incident/accident reports, return to play, concussion, and anti-bullying protocols are in
place.Procedures for reporting all cases of misconduct or suspected child endangerment are
communicated to all stakeholders and are acted upon without delay. Providing the safest
possible playing environment is key to ensuring long term enjoyment of the game.
